Our best January signing?
Was scanning our January transfers in the last 10 years or so, reminding myself of some of the many Roger Johnson-like signings we have made in this month.

Was Demba Ba the only one who really hit the ground running?

Gary O'Neil was pretty useful after we went down.

Are their better ones going further back or am I missing someone?

Hartson
Kitson
Vaz te

But also weren’t lomas and kanoute January signings (or a bit later when the window was March)?

Everyone always talks about not being able to get value in January but I still think it’s a period clubs need to plan for properly - some decent investment in our payet season could have seen us kick on further if we’d had players a bit better than emineke come in

Never mind about the best, I can't even remember what window anyone was signed.

Must have been a hard days night Eriee for you if you thought Harrison played up front with Kitson

Hartson and Kitson signed in February for a start back when deadline day was in March/April!

The answer is Di Canio, nobody else remotely close

Harrison and Kitson were in the days before the January transfer window existed.

Without Vaz Te we'd be with the likes of Notts Forest, Sheffield Wed & Derby

Good Cham[ionship player but think he was just short of PL quality. Dislocated his shoulder early after we got promoted and don't think he ever really got going at a higher level.

Scored a hat-trick in a 6-0 win over Brighton which I am guessing is the last time we beat the Gaylords

No idea about his attitude overall but for me he tried.

I remember a few games I was able to get to when I first moved here, he would out practicing free kicks before the warm up and was the last one off after.

It was just that very few went in.

Agree with Hartson and Kitson, we would have been relegated without them two. Pissed off when Harry sold Hartson to Wimbledon!

Hartson and Kitson get my vote too. Transformed what would have been a dreadful season.

Now, as much as I love the guy, I’m not necessarily sure it’s an attitude issue.

His level was the championship.

Vaz Te plays in China after never being able to hold down a job, he had the physique and wasn't short of talent, must just have an utter shitcunt of an attitude?

Absolute shout for Vaz Te. Dread to think what state we’d be in now without his goals back then.
